Design & Technical Co-Lead, Planting Design, with RIOS
Drawing inspiration from meandering arroyos, the Alexandria Real Estate corporate headquarters landscape flows and weaves with Gensler’s architectural forms. Attention is paid to creating a welcoming streetscape and paseo gathering spaces to integrate the project into the unique Pasadena Civic Center urban fabric. West coast-sourced granite paving weaves from the public to the private realm, contouring the custom metal planters and benches. Upper-floor employee gathering spaces host pollinator and edible gardens for stimulating respite and delight.
